ODF special interest group formed in Malaysia

Mncchomepage_1 Above: Today's MNCC Home Page with announcement on ODF SIG

MNCC (Malaysian National Computer Confederation) is an association of individual ICT professionals. A few SIGs (Special Interest Groups) have been running and the latest formed is the MNCC ODF SIG (OpenDocument Special Interest Group). Excerpt (in italics) from the SIG's web page:

Mission Statement

To promote the adoption of ODF (OpenDocument Format) and open standards in Malaysia

Key Strategies

  • Heighten awareness on ODF and open standards
  • Work with relevant bodies to implement adoption of solutions based on ODF and open standards

OdfalliancelogoThe SIG has also joined the ODF Alliance, listed in the alliance's web page as "MNCC ODF Special Interest Group, Malaysia", becoming the 193th member of the the ODF Alliance. (Sorry, I manually mis-counted over 200 members in my previous post! But I'm sure it will get to 200 very soon.) The ODF SIG is the first Malaysian organization to join the worldwide alliance, and I wish for other Malaysian companies and organizations to join, too.

So now there is a special interest group championing the ODF and open standards cause in Malaysia and in concert with a worldwide alliance! Yes, I am a member of this SIG so am working with colleagues in the SIG to make the mission happen!
